On Saturday 1st April 2000 I was back at Cheltenham Town Hall, this time to see THE DUBLINERS. The first thing that struck me was how empty the stage looked after Voulez-Vous the previous night.
Just before the performance I met up with a work colleague and friend Ailish O'driscoll and her family.
Some of the songs performed included DANNY FARRELL, THE MANCHESTER RAMBLER, THE MULLIGAR RACES, SONG FOR IRELAND, MOLLY MALONE, THE POOL SONG which was written by CON O'DRISCEOLL from SKIBBEREEN (I wonder if he's any relation to Ailish), THE TOWN I LOVED SO WELL, STEP IT OUT MARY, WORKING MAN, DIRTY OLD TOWN, and WHISKEY IN THE JAR.
The line-up for THE DUBLINERS at this time was:-
Even though I only remembered one of their songs (SEVEN DRUNKEN NIGHTS) which they didn't perform, I found myself recognising many of the songs and singing along.
